Female Water Polo Suit Size Guide

Female Water Polo Suit — Size Guide

Water polo suits fit tight — that's correct. A competition fit is snug so opponents have nothing to grab, and the suit relaxes slightly in the water. This chart is built from our actual pattern measurements and the stretch of our fabric, so always choose by your body measurements, not your usual clothing size — our suits run smaller than regular clothing letter sizes.

The letter alias is a rough guide only — sizing runs smaller than everyday clothing, so please go by the bust measurement first.

How to measure

  • Bust: around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms.
  • Waist: around the narrowest part of your waist.
  • Hip: around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
  • Torso (girth): from the top of one shoulder, down your front, through the legs and back up to the same shoulder — one full loop. If your torso is long for your bust size, go one size up.
  • Keep the tape snug but not tight, and level all the way around.

Getting the fit right

A note on our fabric: our 320g poly-spandex has noticeably more stretch than the PBT fabric used by imported brands. The chart above gives a competition-snug fit in our fabric.

  • Competition: choose your true size from the chart — it should feel very snug when dry.
  • Ultra-tight elite fit, or coming from a PBT suit (e.g. Turbo)? Go one size down — our fabric stretches more, so a size down in Martin West gives the locked-in feel a PBT suit gives at true size.
  • Training / comfort: go one size up for a more relaxed fit.
  • Between sizes? For competition, take the smaller; for comfort, the larger.

Junior guide (rough reference only)

As a very rough age guide: 22 ≈ 5–6 years, 24 ≈ 7–8 years, 26 ≈ 9–10 years, 28 ≈ 11–12 years, 30 ≈ 13–14 years. Children vary enormously at the same age, so please measure and use the chart above rather than buying by age.
